Among the Flowers

If I may walk this path

I hope that my steps flourish

That I walk with good intent

To not lead others astray

Nor follow others

Who lead with temerity instead of reason

If I may walk this path

I hope that my steps are filled with light

So that if others choose to follow

They can walk towards a brighter tomorrow

Without fear

And with the knowledge to carry them through

If I may walk this path

I hope that my steps elicit strength

That the path I’ve walked shows might and conviction

With temperance and unyielding knowledge

With the same force and ferocity that created the universe

So that I may never falter on my journey

However I may walk

I choose to do so among the flowers

For I hope the soil that nourishes

Continues to provide a way forward

If I may walk among the flowers

I will always remember and care for them

For I hope they remember and care for me

When I am laid amongst them
